Midweek-Birdgeek

Andy and Aiden and I took off work/daycare early this Wednesday in search of a potential lifer, a Eurasian Wigeon (non-birder translation= duck from Europe), that was noted on the latest VT Rare Bird Alert postings. We arrived at the particular flooded field in Ferrisburgh, VT and after some scanning with the scope, we did locate 2 Eurasian Wigeons! (see photo proof below). OK, so you will just have to trust us. We also saw a lot of other good ducks and one lonely yellowlegs wandering around in the field. We missed the Black-Tailed Godwit (non-birder = very large sandpiper from Europe) also seen lately in the area (he didn't hang around long) but were happy with just one lifer for the day! Unbelievably, Aiden did not care about the Wigeon at all. He laughed and tried to suck on the scope eyepiece.
