Turkey Trot

We hosted Thanksgiving for the Dean family this year at our new house in New London, NH. There were 7 of us, plus two dogs and two parrots, so we had a very full little house, but it was an excellent time. On Thanksgiving morning we all ran the 2nd annual Turkey Trot in Sunapee Harbor. Ok, only Becky and Micah RAN the whole thing. Andy ran and walked a bit, I walked and ran a bit, and Mom, Dad and Aiden walked. Actually, Aiden mostly rode in his comfort chariot.
The problem was (or so we told ourselves later) we were unprepared for the first mile of the 3 mile run, which is ALL uphill at a slope of like 30 degrees. If you thought you were maybe not soooo out of shape, that first mile made it clear that you were in no shape at all. Still, there were over 500 runners and Becky finished 5th in her age group... hmmm, I was also in that group, and I think i was 25th out of 45 or something. Other than Becky we all had unremarkable finish times, but it was a beautiful morning to run along the shores of Lake Sunapee and stare at all the beautiful lake mansions.
